Social Services
The cancer journey from the moment of diagnosis can be filled with challenges and opportunities. The diagnosis and need for treatment may evoke strong emotions and even trigger memories of prior losses or difficulties. The Oncology Social Worker can be a powerful source of support and assistance for the patient, family and friends in navigating through this experience. In Radiation Oncology, the Social Worker can provide counseling, teach relaxation, cognitive -behavioral techniques, assist with communication concerns and the decision making process, and can act as an advocate with your team and community agencies. The social worker can also assist with concrete needs, such as housing, transportation, finances, home care and other resources including educational / support groups.
If you would like to meet or talk with the Radiation Oncology Social Worker ask your physician or one of the other healthcare member for appointment information.
