Graeme J. Dougherty, Ph.D.
Research Professor
Dr. Dougherty's research efforts are focused on the development of novel means of improving the efficacy of radiation therapy. Currently, particular emphasis is being placed on identifying and characterizing small molecule drugs and molecular medicines that target radiation resistant hypoxic cells within solid tumors and in evaluating the therapeutic potential of selective vascular damaging agents He works closes with other members of the Department to ensure the rapid translation of laboratory findings into the clinic in order to improve patient care and outcome.
Dr. Dougherty is also an enthusiastic educator and has responsibility for coordinating the teaching of radiobiology to the Radiation Oncology Residents and other interested parties. He also provides laboratory resources and practical input to help facilitate the pursuit of independent research initiatives within the department.
